Tweety, the yellow canary cartoon character, is traditionally portrayed as male. However, in some modern adaptations, Tweety has also been depicted as female. The character was created by animator Bob Clampett and first appeared in the Warner Bros. animated short "A Tale of Two Kitties" in 1942. Tweety is known for his high-pitched voice and tendency to say "I tawt I taw a putty tat!" when he senses danger from his nemesis, the sly and hungry cat Sylvester.
